Taking a Chance on Change in New Jersey – The Online Gaming Issue

Posted on 05 September 2013

News out of New Jersey indicates that the casinos in Atlantic City are working to upgrade and streamline gambling from traditional brick and mortar structures to online gambling.  This change will complement the casino setting – enabling guests to “gamble on the go” when they are not on the gaming floor.  Casinos in the states are taking a close look at the possibility of online gaming as a result of the successful partnerships between casinos and online gambling venues across the pond in the United Kingdom.

Tropicana and Gamesys Limited

The Tropicana Casino and Resort has an agreement in principle with Gamesys to create and offer internet gambling towards the end of 2013.  The joint venture will join the Atlantic City casino with the online world of jackpotjoy.com run by Gamesys.  Tropicana President, Tony Rodio, said that the proven track record in the UK has the Trop excited to work with Gamesys in order to provide unparalleled service and excitement to patrons.  Gamesys was the first company allowed to offer real-money online gambling to customers in the UK.  Soon, Atlantic City visitors and residents may be able to join in on the fun.

Caesars and 888 Holdings

The Tropicana is not the only resort and casino exploring these possibilities.  As Internet gambling becomes legal for the first time in Atlantic City, most of the casinos are racing to form new strategic alliances.  The hotels and casinos of the Caesars Entertainment group will be partnering with 888 Holdings.  The agreement will promote Caesars and online games under the new regulations.  Both parties will benefit from the state’s new focus on saving businesses, gaming, and the financial stability of Atlantic City while gaining a significant new source of tax revenue.  888 Holdings poker platform is just what Caesars is seeking to launch itself into the fast paced online world.

The Taj Mahal and Ultimate Gaming

At the Taj Mahal, the connection to Ultimate Gaming will streamline the interactive world that visitors have come to love.  The Trump Taj is following suit of their Nevada partner to attract more customers and provide them with an experience that continues after their trip or vacation in Atlantic City comes to an end.  Ultimate Gaming was the first online company to offer real-money online poker in Nevada, and they are now ready to expand to the east coast.  The recent legalization of real-money online gambling in New Jersey this past February matches together this experienced online company with the luxurious Trump Taj Mahal.

Wynn Interactive LLC

Joining the mix of online gambling with real world casino joint ventures is gambling mogul Steve Wynn.  His Wynn Interactive LLC is another arm of his successful growth in the gaming community.  He hopes to expand out of Las Vegas to the former enemy territory in Atlantic City.  While all plans are still preliminary, there is talk of partnerships with different Jersey casinos and working with the slot machines and table games that make up the gaming floor.

More Plans

With new laws in place, there have been many applications from casino owners to take their gambling empire online like the river bell online casino.  The New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement for Internet gambling licenses reports that many applications have been filed but they are not listing approvals or denials as of yet.  The changes in New Jersey online gaming law are just seven months old and will continue to change the face of Atlantic City in the months to come.
