October 21, 2011 – The First Day of the Feast of Tabernacles, Not the Last!

Posted on 25 October 2011

It was always puzzling to me how the Israelites were to celebrate both the Feast of Tabernacles and the Feast of Ingathering at the same time.  They were to make offerings by fire for 7 days, followed by the 8th day solemn assembly (Leviticus 23:34) They were also to thank God for the final harvest of the year, followed by a Sabbath Day (Leviticus 23:39).  Additionally, they were to dwell in booths 7 days, as a reminder that God protected them when they came out of Egypt (Leviticus 23:43).  It always seemed like a tall order, doing several completely different things and not focusing on one at a time.  Both feast days were to start on the 15th day of the 7th month in the calendar of their day.  The Feast of Ingathering pointed to the Latter Rain, or the final harvest of souls, which began on the Memorial of the Jubilee in a Jubilee year, September 7, 1994.  The Feast of Tabernacles, or the Feast of the Bible, pointed to the very end of the world, the fulfillment of God’s salvation plan and final judgment.

The Dedication of Solomon’s Temple is a parable of the completion of God’s Temple at world’s end, made up of all those people saved during their lives on this earth.  The dedication ceremony took place during the Feast of Tabernacles, as we would expect, but the timing is not quite what we thought.  There are two similar accounts of the dedication, one in the Book I Kings, and the other in the Book II Chronicles.  In both I Kings 8:2 and II Chronicles 5:3 we read that all the men of Israel assembled at the feast in the 7th month, not mentioning which feast in particular.  I Kings 64-65 talks about King Solomon making burnt offerings and also holding a feast for all of Israel.  We would expect this to be for 7 days, but the Bible says “…seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.”  In II Chronicles it states “And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days,” again a total of 14 days, not 7 days.  God is linking the two feasts together, then saying that they are to start on the 15th day of the month, putting them consecutive, not concurrent.  This is a thought process we would not normally take without the example of the Temple Dedication.

Applying what we have learned to pinpoint the end of the world this very month, we know that the 7th month in the Jewish Biblical calendar started September 29, 2011, when the new moon was actually first sighted.  The 15th day of the 7th month, then, was the 13th of October.  For 7 days the altar would burn sacrifices, (spiritually), and the 8th solemn assembly day would be October 20, 2011, the 22nd day of the 7th month of their calendar.  II Chronicles 7:10 says “And on the 23rd day of the 7th month he sent the people away into their tents, glad and marry in heart…”  Up to now, we thought that the 23rd day of the 7th month (October 21) was the end of the world, and that they just went home at the end of the feast.  However, sending people into their tents is covering them, like putting them in booths, the first day of the second 7 day period!  God’s people remain protected from October 21 to October 27, which is the very last day.

In Genesis 2:4, God speaks of the 7 days of creation as a day.  And we also know, for another example, that the Day of Judgment is actually 153 days long.  John 7:37 calls the Feast of Tabernacles “…that great day of the feast…” – a 7-day “great day.”  October 21 is still the end day, Biblically speaking, but it is actually 7 days long, a final test to see who will finally be faithful all the way to the end.  In John 6:54 we read “…and I will raise him up at the last day.”  God’s elect will rise up to enter Heaven on October 27, not October 21.

Acts Chapter 27 is an historical parable, an actual event that teaches spiritual lessons.  The chapter is about a ship and its crew struggling during stormy conditions.  This description is concerning the ending days of our creation, and the story mentions the 14th day.  “…This day is the 14th day that ye have tarried and continued fasting, having taken nothing.  Wherefore I pray you to take some meat: for this is for your health: for there shall not an hair fall from the head of any of you.”  “Meat” is spiritual truth from the Bible, urging us to keep studying for guidance, while waiting throughout the last 14 days.  The chapter ends with them all escaping safely to land, meaning the security of Jesus Christ.

A ray of sunshine in an otherwise dismal period in the history of the world…although, I thought that the Feast of Tabernacles and the Feast of Ingathering were one in the same feast – termed by the Jewish people as Sukkot.

  2. Dantes says:

The Feast of Tabernacles and Ingathering are the same. It is spiritual and was pointing to God’s Victory over the church at the revelation of Christ. Lord willing it relates to the separation of wheat and tares (gathering) as God’s Elect are coming out Babylon which is the teachings of men altogether – the locusts and thieves… who were a part of the church.

    Offered for consideration.

  3. AnotherDay says:

    yeah… I gotta call bulls on this…

(Bulls were frequently used in Jewish custom for animal sacrifice)

  4. GeorgeNJ says:

Do I understand this correctly to offer these corrections?
    CORRECT: I Kings 64-65
No such reference in the Bible.

    I think you mean 1 Kings 8 64-65

65And at that time Solomon held a feast, and all Israel with him, a great congregation, from the entering in of Hamath unto the river of Egypt, before the LORD our God, seven days and seven days, even fourteen days.

66On the eighth day he sent the people away: and they blessed the king, and went unto their tents joyful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the LORD had done for David his servant, and for Israel his people.

You also forgot to give the scripture reference for:
    2 Chronicles 7:9
And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

Thank you for considering these corrections.

    Food for thought,

In the past few days I have ponder these very verses as well. What shed light on these verses was a little round about reasoning? When October 21st came and went, we looked for more guidance. The 153 days would be followed by 160 days as significant numbers 4 X 40. This would focus on October 28th. The five months mentioned in Revelation Chapter 9, would be the five full months which concludes on the last day of the 7th month of the Hebrew calendar. Put it this way, after the 17th day of the second month of the Hebrew calendar arrived (May 21, 2011), the first day of the 3rd month, until the 30th day of the 7th month, would be the five full months. This is not to say those 153 days from May 21, 2011 to October 21, is not 5 months, but we are not contradicting Revelation chapter 9 with this thinking either.

As your date of October 27th sounds all well and good, this verse:

    2 Chronicles 7:9
And in the eighth day they made a solemn assembly: for they kept the dedication of the altar seven days, and the feast seven days.

In other words I was looking at October 28th, 2011, prior to the reading of this article, and at first glance I was seeing seven additional days. Nonetheless, I am glad to see all of the same verses being used, this is God’s doing Psalm 119:105.

Nothing dogmatic here, just encouraged seeing much like mindedness.

    James

    http://www.truthofyahweh.org/moon.htm
Moon spotted in the evening of the 28th in many locations except Israel (Jerusalem) where 8 people reported spotting it on the 29th.

By these observations do you conclude that day 1 would be the 29th or the 30th?

What link do you use to verify the physical moon sighting?
Does day 1 start in that evening and end the next evening?

  7. Will says:

This is truly amazing! Also consider other end time events culminating on this date!

    The Mayan calendar ends………………..Oct 28,2011
    The World population exactly 7 Billion…..Oct 31,2011

  8. james says:

Just notice in the link provided by GeorgeNJ, that the 2011 calendar says that October 28, is the first day of the Hebrew month.
That would make October 27, the last day of the Hebrew month. Also there would be 160 days inclusive from May 21, 2011 until October 27, 2011.

Peace, as declared in Numbers 6:24-26,

    James

Now then, when the dates expire and the Rapture do not happen, shall we search the scriptures futher or be disappointed and grow cold? Here’s my take on this. The feasts (sabbaths) were given to reveal the PLAN OF SALVATION. Dig deeper, maybe an understanding will come. Study the Four Horsemen of Revelation 6, you’ll see that it’s being fulfilled right our very eyes. The White Horse, George W. Bush, declared WWIII-The War of Terror in the Middle East. The Black Horse, Barack Obama, will declare WWIV-World Domination, One World Government. The Red Horse, Pope Benedict XVI, will engineer the biggest QE ever, rendering fiat money useless, the collapse of world economy resulting in the establishment of One World Economy. The Pale Green Horse, Ron Paul, next president of the US will witness the Slaughter, Famine & Pestilence. Then the establishment of the New World Order – One World Government, One World Economy, One World Religion ruled the by the BEAST, the 8th KING/POPE of Revelation 17-the Devil impersonating Pope John Paul II. What follows is the 3 1/2 days/years – 1260 days of GREAT TRIBULATION. The 7 Trumpets begins to sound. After the 7th Trumpet – the second coming of YAHUSHUA. Where does the Rapture fit into this?

  10. jag says:

Oct 26 9:56 PM is the new moon in Jerusalem. (Jerusalem time)
Oct 26 3:56 PM Eastern Standard Time. (New York time)

    Immediately 1161 2112 after 3326 the tribulation 2347 of those 1565 days 2250 shall the sun 2246 be darkened 4654, and 2532 the moon 4582 shall 1325 0 not 3756 give 1325 her 846 light 5338, and 2532 the stars 792 shall fall 4098 from 575 heaven 3772, and 2532 the powers 1411 of the heavens 3772 shall be shaken 4531:

The sun is darkened when it’s night, and the moon doesn’t shine when it’s new. Matthew 13:24, 24:29 and other verses could be referring to the new moon.

  11. Min says:

@Dann rivera, that is the false teaching the church is teaching, Pray for wisdom and knowledge, it does not fit into the “Truth”.

  12. Editor says:

The recent October snow and ice storm has again knocked out my power for days. I received this from our friend Vince Des Roches in my email from Saturday past. Had I been able to access my email at that time, I would have posted it as an article. Given the circumstances, I thought I would add it to the comments of his recent article. Below is the text of his communication to me:

    OCTOBER 28, 2011 CORRECTION

    1. After careful study, we realized that the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles, not the last day, was October 21. That means the 7th day of the feast was October 27, and the 8th solemn assembly day was October 28th (Leviticus 23:36). Note that it is not a Sabbath day, but a solemn assembly.

    2. The Bible time clock must end after the 5 month day of judgment, which is 153 days. We realized that the “last day” is the 8-day Feast of Tabernacles, so this end must be October 28. However, that doesn’t mean the world won’t last just a little bit longer.

    3. Jesus’ death and resurrection is also a picture of his people’s death in this world and resurrection into a new world. The Bible is very clear that the Lord Jesus died on a Friday and rose on a Sunday, a Sabbath day. October 28 is a Friday. This would be the “Solemn Assembly”, as the elect are killed, or totally rejected and silenced in this world. It would be a solemn assembly in the sense of quietly waiting together. This death is the end day of this world for God’s people.

    4. “Come, and let us return unto the Lord: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the Lord: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.” (Hosea 6:1-3). True believers have to go through the same 3 days in the heart of the earth as Jonah did in the whale’s belly (Matthew 12:40), as a reminder of Christ’s suffering. Then Christ will come for everyone chosen, spoken of as the collection of all 3 periods of rain in earth’s history. That would be National Israel, the Churches and the Latter Rain.

    5. John 6:40,44,54 all say “…raise him up again at the last day”. It’s interesting that it does not say “in” or “on”, pointing to an exact day, but “at”, as if it’s very near that day.

    6. Matthew 27:50-52 states: “Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the tip to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection,…”. The rapture cannot occur until the third day, as it must follow Christ’s resurrection. The unsaved are daring God to rebuild his temple in 3 days, as we read in Matthew 27:39-40: “And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself….”.

    7. It fits perfectly that the rapture would be on a Sunday (October 30), the day to glorify almighty God.

    8. The number 7 represents spiritual perfect fulfillment throughout the Bible. On October 31, the world will reach 7 billion people, an amazing coincidence!

    9. October 31 is Halloween, Satan’s holiday, when much of the world glorifies death, darkness and evil. Is this another coincidence?

    10. On October 28 the unsaved of the world put to rest in their minds any chance of Christ’s return. On October 31, they will realize their error when they watch the rapture occur. Then, as Sunday turns to Satan’s day, the precisely 7 billion (minus 200,000,000) will face the final judgment.

Pretty great post. I just stumbled upon your blog and wished to mention that I have really loved surfing around your weblog posts. I notice that your blog had comprehensive coverage of the end of the world on May 21, 2011. Unlike other sources, however, when that date came and went, your site continued to feature articles by Robert Fitzpatrick that adhere to the general philosophy of Mr. Harold Camping. I’ll be subscribing to your feed and I hope to see more articles on topics such as these.
