What’s eating you? In writing this article, I appeal to our readers across America to respond below, in the comment boxes, as to what is really bothering you. Your responses will provide us with a cross-section of issues, be they personal, political, religious, or otherwise, that you would like to get off your chest.
The constant barrage of tweets, emails, PM’s IM’s, chirping cell phones, “reality” TV, and overflowing message boxes overwhelm us with so much hype and so many demands that it’s often hard to think straight. Into that mix, toss all of the information pepper-sprayed at us constantly by way of Internet news, broadcast news, newspaper headlines, and even those danged annoying gossip magazines staring at us when we line up to pay for our groceries.
With all the trouble in the world, whether it is Haiti’s recent disasters, Iran and Korea poised to flex their nuclear muscles, the war in Iraq, the war in Afghanistan, the war on crime, global warming, national healthcare, economic woes driven by a bursting-at-the-seems national debt, rampant unemployment, and a government that tosses our money blithely to big industry, and, oh yes, let us not forget the infidelities of prominent politicians and sports figures, it’s enough to drive one crazy!
To grasp the last straws of our sanity, I say it’s time to stop worrying about the things we cannot control, for the time being at least, and air the problems that we face in our daily lives. Confession is good for the soul, because we will accept the punishment that will free us from harboring guilt over our gripes.
As a senior citizen, my own concerns are how to survive in today’s society, now that my productive years have passed. The country is in turmoil with too many people and not enough jobs: one branch of the root system known as our national financial fungus. Presently, the much-needed social programs that benefit seniors are still available, but their days are numbered. These programs, or rather, their continuance, has become a sort of political football tossed between warring factions (our legislators); their elimination and our resultant suffering may offer a way to begin to solve our economic woes. I am sure that many senior citizens are pondering the same fate of a life without Medicaid and Medicare, to name just the obvious programs. Our only hope lies in the wisdom of government to solve our problems. And given our government’s track record, all hope dies aborning.
Now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, why not tell us what is on yours? Air your gripes and unload that excess baggage that is dragging you down!
I have a ton of gripes. At the present moment, it’s an idiot who married into my family. He’s just gone through his third elective and rather delicate surgery. It’s the same surgery over and over again, because he’s an idiot. He refuses to follow doctor’s orders for after-care. And then he babbles on about how the entire world is against him. He’s downright stupid and monumentally annoying!
I hate people who can’t get out of their own way on the road. Whether they’re young and on their cellphones or old and shouldn’t be driving anymore, they all annoy me.
Another great article with strong points, I’ve been a lurker here for a while but hope to be far more engaged in the future.
How can Americans sit idly by while our volunteer military of our country are risking their lives so we can have the freedoms to do what we want and when we want.Navy Seals are being punished for hurting the enemy, while doing their duty. Families of the fallen are harrassed at burial services by a religious group (Westboro Baptist Church) and it is approved by our court sysrem because it’s Freedom of Speech? There is more concern about how we treat our enemies than the Armed Forces of the United States. If you want to be an American it’s time to stand up and let your voice be heard!
Good point . You are absolutely right.
Continually writing like this will draw in a lot of viewers keep up the good, work.
