For those of you unfamiliar with this operatic child prodigy, the Jackie Evancho story, as it has been played out on the popular television program America’s Got Talent, is both strange and beautiful:  strange in the sense that the voice emanating from this 10 year old girl is unlike any child’s voice in terms of tone, range, and timbre and beautiful in the ease with which she sings the most difficult musical compositions.

 

Watching the video gives the viewer an almost eerie, uneasy feeling.  Perhaps it is that sense that has caused a buzz on the Internet with many bloggers claiming that young Jackie is lip syncing.  Of course, if America’s Got Talent perpetrated that kind of fraud on the American viewing public, it would be the most sensational such instance since the scandal over the rigging of the game show Tweny One, a story popularized to younger audiences in the 1994 major motion picture Quiz Show.
